Experience
For the past decade, I've been working in product development—first as a green coffee buyer and quality control manager, then as a full-fledged .
Prior to this role, I worked in the then-burgeoning third wave specialty coffee scene as at Arts Café in Montréal's Mile End neighbourhood for three years. During that time, I drew on my passion for community building and event organization to co-found : an industry event that brought together big-name speakers, equipment manufacturers, and coffee professionals from all over North America to gather, learn, and network.
Before that, I was at university, where—alongside my work in cafés—I served as for Vancouver Island University's Navigator Newspaper (a.k.a. The Nav) and volunteer for the Vancouver Island Leadership Conference.
Education
I'm a lifelong learner. After graduating high school, I studied Jazz Improvisation, then broadened my studies to include Business, French, and Graphic Design. By 2012, I had received from Vancouver Island University as well as a Certificate of Completion for the five-week French immersion program Explore. In 2013, I took another year of music studies at Concordia before deciding to pause my formal education to pursue my career in coffee.
Since leaving Concordia, I've continued to study and complete program after program. First, I achieved the coffee industry professional certification Arabica Q Grader (similar to the wine sommelier program). I spent years at the YMCA International Language School, and now, I'm nearing completion of a from Concordia Continuing Education.
Skills💻
I love language learning and speak several . I'm also a power user of productivity tools like spreadsheets, Notion, Slack, shared calendars, email, and Google Docs.
I'm formally trained in such as Canva, Affinity, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I've designed packaging, posters, stickers, and social posts, and studied SEO and web design. I have also run a Shopify e-commerce website for nearly a decade.
My communications work spans event planning and B2B/B2C support, and I've been responsible for in-person customer training events as well as written and video tutorial materials. I use Mailchimp and Klaviyo and have written hundreds of newsletters.
